We planned a vacation to Cabo this month and stayed at the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort – an oceanfront resort within Mexico’s Baja California peninsula. Facing the Sea of Cortéz, the resort’s location is midway between two great towns for sightseeing and soaking up the culture of the area, Cabo San Lucas to the south and San José del Cabo to the north. It’s a prime spot with one of the few swimmable beaches in Cabo.

Facilities

Due to renovations in 2019, the resort is in fantastic shape. It’s a beautiful property with a luxurious feel. As you enter the resort, it feels like you’re still outside because no doors are closing off the resort from the outside and multiple hallways lead to other outdoor areas.

Restaurants and Bars

There are a handful of restaurants at the Hilton Los Cabos and a couple of grab-and-go options on the property. Although we spent some time off property, most of our meals were at the resort. And we enjoyed all our meals!

  • Talavera – This was our spot for breakfast each morning. I’m not a big breakfast eater, but our Diamond status with Hilton gave us access to a free continental breakfast, which included a nice selection of pastries, smoothies, fruit, freshly squeezed juices, and more. On our last day, we tried the full buffet and some of their hot selections like omelets, bacon, sausage, and Mexican specialties with fresh, hand-made tortillas. Of course, we enjoyed mimosas too!
  • Leña – I’d say this was our favorite. Because of the swim-up bar, we often had spicy margaritas with sea bass tacos. I also had a pizza from its wood-fired grill one day while lounging by the pool.
  • Vela – Serving Italian cuisine, we had a romantic meal at this restaurant with fireworks in the backdrop! It opens in the evenings for dinner, with seating outside by the infinity pool.
  • Sotol – A mix between a refined sports bar and a restaurant with panoramic views. We caught Thursday night football and on our last night at the resort, we had a nice steak dinner outside while enjoying the view.

Fitness Center

The resort has a well-equipped fitness center with options to workout indoors and outdoors. I managed to get in a workout on one day of this trip! There are also complimentary and paid classes that you can sign up for.

Pools and Beach

There are two large pools and two smaller pools throughout the property, including one adults-only pool. A few of the pools are infinity pools. And there was an infinity hot tub! The service at the pools was fantastic, from the swim-up bar to the pool concierge service. Throughout the day, complimentary fresh fruit and mini frozen fruit popsicles were offered.

Spa

At eforea spa, you can choose from a selection of massages, massages, facials, and body therapies. They offered an oceanfront massage option and various salon services. There were a couple of wedding groups at the resort during our stay, so the spa was busy the day I toured it.

Our Room

Our room at the Hilton Los Cabos was nice. We stayed in the Coastal Garden View room with a balcony and two queen beds. We used points for this stay and normally would have received an upgrade, but with the two wedding parties, one of which was large, we didn’t score one on this trip. Although we weren’t oceanfront, we did have partial views of the Sea of Cortez.

The room was spacious and nicely decorated. The bathroom had double sinks (yes!) and a separate shower and tub. The beds and the pillows were very comfortable.

Staff and Service

We think the staff and service are excellent at this resort! Their team members go above and beyond, especially in the restaurants. We always had what we needed, whether it was while dining or in our rooms, if we found we needed something. There is also a turndown service. It’s so nice to come back to a put-together room after dinner.

The Bottom Line

I would happily stay at the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort again, but in an oceanfront room and perhaps the plunge pool option. The only downside is that you must take a taxi or Uber if you want to leave the property because there isn’t anything within walking distance. However, mostly staying at the resort works because it’s lovely!
