In August 2021, my family and I decided to take a week-long beach vacation together. Growing up in New Jersey, I was very familiar with “going down the shore” to the towns along the Jersey Shore. But my brother-in-law’s good friend suggested we check out Ocean City, Maryland. We took his advice and searched for an Airbnb property in Ocean City. Fortunately, we found a townhouse that would comfortably fit all 11 of us in a community called Sunset Island.
Sunset Island
Sunset Island is a private, 37-acre island located in Assawoman Bay, just two blocks from the Atlantic Ocean and its sandy beaches. From the moment we arrived, we all instantly relaxed! We could hear the music of a band playing at the private beachfront Bar and Grill, So we strolled over to grab a bite to eat and drinks from the beach bar.
During our stay, we enjoyed relaxing on the private beach and playing in the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. There were also fun activities like crabbing off the private pier, kayaking in the bay, and checking out nearby restaurants.
The island felt special, and I knew I wanted to own a property there. In May of 2022, I purchased a three-bedroom, two-bath, top-floor corner unit. It’s a dream come true to own a place by the beach!
In addition to everything you would expect from a popular beach town like Ocean City, Maryland, Sunset Island has so much to offer. You can enjoy a year-round clubhouse with an indoor swimming pool and a state-of-the-art fitness center. There’s a shoreline walking path and private beaches. During the season, enjoy the outdoor swimming pools, interactive water fountain, fishing pier, boat slips, an island marketplace.
